The 3 Bonus Things I’m Prioritizing for the Next Year in My 30s (and How I’m Planning Around Them Each Week)
*Also – please remember that everything doesn’t have to happen all at once. Things are able to go slow when necessary. It doesn’t have to be 3 times a day it can be 3 times a week.*
Sometimes I think my attention is pulled in too many directions, and that means that I’m not able to give my full undivided attention to any one thing. Plus I start a lot of things and stop them when I get bored. Which on one hand, yay! freedom! But on the other hand… if I never see them through I’ll never know exactly what I’m capable of.
So I want to pick 3 things that I can focus on for one hour each day (5 days a week) and create content around and really like and enjoy and continue doing studiously. I’ve been doing photography for so long that that isn’t one of my focus areas because it will just happen automatically. But the other ones are going to take discipline – ew I hate that word..
One of the things I struggle with is I’ll have an idea and lose it literally right away. So I have to cope with that. And maybe what I have to do is see a psychiatrist and actually get medication for the adhd. But that scares the shit outta me.
I don’t think that doing one thing is going to work for me because I’m a bouncer, so I want multiple things. Although I debate about if I did 1 thing for 3 hours a day instead of 3 things for 1 wouldn’t I see a faster growth? But lets be so absolutely real… Dedicating 1 hour per thing is already a lot more hours than I’m dedicating now to any of them.
So what if I just did a one hour thing, then another 1 hour thing, then the last 1 hour thing.
How long do I want to commit to this? I want to say 6 months and then I immediately feel overwhelmed. But the goal is to continue something whether or not I am making money at it right away. Compound interest and all that. And I chose things that I will enjoy doing and have dabbled in previously. If one thing starts taking off or I enjoy it more I can subsume the other things into that thing.
These three things are in addition to the photography, which is how I pay my bills right now – so this gets the bulk of my attention because I’m not quitting my day job. Regular tasks are:
-
- Photo sessions
- Editing (I’d like to outsource this entirely I already do mostly)
- Creating content around it
- Cold calling for a quarters worth of content creation for businesses to transition to.
- Grow a Lifestyle Brand Around Your “Figuring Out My 30s” Series
- 1 weekly blog
- 5 weekly videos
- What are the 7 brand pillars for this series: 1. Self-Care (exercise, fashion, and health and beauty) 2. Business, Money & Mindset 3. Friendship & Community 4. Home (includes crafting) & Garden (includes cooking) 5. Relationship (date nights, things that work for us, two person games) 6. Reading and writing 7. What am I doing that my future self will thank me for? I want one where I go through all the tiktoks I’ve saved and actually do them. but I don’t want to do toooooo many things, thoughts?
Potential Monetization: Brand deals, UGC, affiliate links, paid series.

Write and Self-Publish Your Poetry/Art Book Series
- What should I focus on for one hour each day to do this?
- First – finish organizing all the papers/memorabilia
- Second – Go chapter by chapter finish writing the book
- Third – Get samples published
- So the split can be 40 minutes working on the actual project and 20 minutes making a video about it every day.
-
Build a Digital Print/Product Business
- So I like both digital work and physical work – I understand that physical means shipping and digital doesn’t but I feel like it would be okay to have an overarching category of “Sell creative art stuff” and that would be okay. So what would the goals be?
- One day a week add digital listings
- One day a week create digital photos for listings
- One day a week add physical listings
- One day a week create the physical listings
- One day a week for creating content about the listings
This is flexible and I’m growing, but I wanted it to have a place to live on the blog so that I can reference it.
